Here are some fun events going on in February

First Fridays – Abbott Kinney Blvd

6 pm – 10 pm. Shop, enjoy entertainment, refreshments, discounts and specials. Dozens of Food Trucks. Be prepared for big crowds and a tough parking situation as this event is very popular. Walking or cycling (and then locking your bike) to get to this event is recommended.

Open Wetlands at Ballona Salt Marsh

9 am – 12 pm. Free. Los Angeles Audubon Society hosts this event at the Ballona Wetlands to educate visitors about the ecosystems of the salt marsh. Enter through the gate located in the northeast corner of the parking lot behind Alkawater/Gordonbs Market, in the 300 block of Culver Blvd. in Playa del Rey. Salt Marsh and Dunes Interpretive Tour

1 pm – 3 pm. Free. An informative nature tour of the salt marsh and dunes. Learn about our coastal ecosystem and explore the Ballona Wetlands. Parking @ lot behind Gordon’s Market – 303 Culver Blvd, Playa del Rey. Visit ballonafriends.org for more info.

Los Angeles Boat Show – Sail Fest at Marina del Rey

$15 – Burton W. Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey. Ticket is good at Marina and the LA Convention Center location for the day purchased. See new and used boats 35 ft. and larger as well as other watercraft. SailFest at the Marina has plenty of sailing gear and accessories to shop and on-water lessons from top instructors. NEW – Float In Theater let’s you enjoy boating without leaving the dock. A Kids’ Zone has toy boat building, balloon artist, and fun surprises! Shore Fishing at Dockweiler Beach

Free. 9 am – 10:30 am every Saturday at Dockweiler Youth Center, 12505 Vista del Mar. Dept of Beaches & Harbors Free Intro shore fishing class. Limited to 10 Participants per session – Please call to pre-register: 310-726-4128. Anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Parking is $2. *Anyone over the age of 16 must present a valid CA Fishing License to participate. Fishing Licenses can be purchased locally at Marina del Rey Sportfishing – 13759 Fiji Way Marina del Rey or West Marina – 13555 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey or purchased online at www.dfg.ca.gov.
